A signature mix of modern architecture and historic charm makes this acclaimed designer's home, an 1882 painted-lady Victorian in Manhattan's Morris Jumel historic district, an inspired film, photo shoot, and event location. An open kitchen/living area, featuring custom finishes in anodized aluminum, polished concrete, and Carrara marble, opens onto a sunny garden with weathered brick walls and large pear tree. Exposed ceiling beams, antique random-width pine floors, and the original cooking hearth, now an oversized wood burning fireplace, warm the airy floor-through space. The master bedroom, comprising the entire top floor, features original heart pine floors, wood burning fireplace, soaring brick chimneys, and exposed roof beams fifteen feet overhead. Four oversized windows and a large remote-controlled skylight flood the soaring space with abundant natural light. A second bedroom and formal sitting room with wood burning fireplace, crown moldings, exposed brick, and original pocket doors fill out the parlor floor, and a spare, serene mix of custom-designed and antique furniture is arrayed throughout. Situated on a dead-end cobblestone street full of landmarked painted ladies, this iconic facade and timeless environs come ready for their close up as well.

From the deep cultural wellspring of the Harlem neighborhood descend into an evocative richly textured space: The century old space has been stripped to its foundational elements. Native granite schist stone walls intertwine with exposed brick, Carnegie steel beams and a hand-trowled concrete floor. Two massive rustic tables hand crafted from repurposed wooden beams salvaged from a 150 year old church center the space. Morning sunlight pours through the exterior wrought iron fence through 8 large windows allowing abstract shadow shapes to seemingly dance upon surfaces. Dangling wire caged Edison filament bulbs give a warm glow. Contemporary soft touches of drapery and furniture compliment the roughhewn bones of the space. The ~ 1000 sq. foot space accommodates up to 25 people for meetings, meals and other gatherings. A second attached room of ~500 sq. feet is available for prep, storage etc. Basic kitchen prep area is available. High Definition video projection and audio capabilities available Located three blocks from the 2/3 Express and B/C trains, a couple dozen feet from the M2 bus stop, the Up.Under is three blocks from Olmsted & Vaux's urban masterpieces Central and Morningside Parks. A block from 8th Avenue - Frederick Douglass Boulevard corridor - the south Harlem neighborhood is now dotted with cafes, restaurants and bars ranging from Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster & Streetbird to legendary Minton's Playhouse. Space includes two 11' long timber tables and seating for 25 people. There are 3 additional 6' folding tables along with rolling 6' bar height butcher block table available if needed.
