This is a fully operational woodworking and makerspace, equipped for a wide range of fabrication projects. Beyond woodworking, the shop offers capabilities for welding, plasma cutting, industrial sewing, and multi-material fabrication, making it ideal for set building. Designed as a commercial shop, it's currently a space where I volunteer to teach young people valuable trades and hands-on skills. The shop is always bustling with ongoing projects.
The space features two large, west-facing glass block windows (6x6 feet, 4 inches thick) that allow natural light to filter in while maintaining a quiet atmosphere, thanks to the bunker-like walls, which are over a foot thick. With its 12-foot ceilings, the shop provides an excellent setting for audio recordings, particularly for documentary interviews.
The shop itself is about 1,250 square feet, with an additional 800 square feet dedicated to film or photo staging. It’s equipped with 110V, 220V, and three-phase power, and is located on the ground floor with ample parking in the two-truck driveway.
If you're in need of an active industrial shop backdrop or set, this space is a valuable resource. We frequently restore vintage artifacts and industrial items for other projects and also create contemporary pieces using modern industrial materials. For those seeking an old-world workshop atmosphere, we have a collection of vintage tools and workbenches, as well as materials like copper, stainless steel, vintage canvas, and more, which can be staged for period-specific sets.
Whether you're looking for a working industrial environment or a versatile fabrication shop, this space can meet your needs.

Our vintage kayak restoration shop specializes in restoring wooden-framed kayaks, including a rare model from the 1930s and several from the 1960s-80s. NYC Parks is currently encouraging the use of its waterways, with about 30 to 40 official kayak and canoe launch sites across the city. These spots offer stunning views and unique photo opportunities of the city skyline from the water.
While we often think of New York as its five boroughs, it’s actually the sixth borough—its waterways—that helped shape the city into a global powerhouse. The Hudson River, East River, Arthur Kill, Long Island Sound, and Newtown Creek were crucial for trade and commerce long before New York became a nation. Back then, the waterfronts sloped naturally from shallow to deep water, allowing small crafts like canoes to paddle against the current with ease. This accessibility made New York an essential trading post, with two people able to transport up to 400 pounds by water—a feat that would’ve been nearly impossible by land. These beautifully restored kayaks are fully functional and offer a unique way to experience New York City’s waterways.
The region’s waterways were also abundant with oysters, a staple food source for New Yorkers well into the mid-1800s. Oysters were so plentiful that bars on Canal Street offered them for free with beer purchases. This high-energy food supply supported the growing urban population, long before industrialization wiped out much of the marine life. To miss the chance to explore New York’s waterways by kayak is to miss out on a key part of the city’s history. Motorboats and ferries can’t match the tactile experience of moving through the water by paddle, offering a direct connection to the city’s past.
In recent years, whales and porpoises have begun returning to New York’s waters, a sign of renewed natural habitats. It's ironic that humans are often the last to reconnect with nature, isn’t it?
Our kayaks, complete with their original wooden paddles, bear the marks of decades of use—each scar and nick tells a story. Holding these paddles, you’ll feel the connection to a bygone era, knowing that with care, these handcrafted tools are built to last generations. This is the essence of experiencing New York City from the water. The kayaks, with their wooden frames and rubberized canvas skins, are designed to be portable, breaking down into compact bags for easy transport. Originally used for expeditions, they can be assembled like a tent, making them perfect for exploring NYC’s waterways. We also offer a restored wooden two-person canoe.
Our shop occupies the first floor of an industrial building, where woodworking, industrial sewing, and metal fabrication take place. The space is approximately 2,500 square feet, with direct garage access, a loading dock, and plenty of room for your projects.
These vintage wooden boats can be photographed or filmed in our workshop, or out on the water, depending on your project’s needs. Let us know how we can help bring your vision to life!

Welcome to our 1920s Williamsburg historic industrial four-story building! Blending history with production, our building contains its original 1940 stainless steel freight elevator. We hold multiple production and film spaces all within one complex. We are your space for abandoned, haunted or vacant shoot projects. Likewise, because we can control the interior environment, coupled with its solid brick and concrete ceilings, many of the spaces lend themselves to recordings and audio interviews. Our authentic industrial distressed location has been featured in BBC, FOX News, and Cosmopolitan productions.
Our 300 sq. ft. Library space boasts high ceilings, park views, soundproof windows, and adjustable lighting, making it perfect for your team’s needs. Adding to its unique character are 100-year-old work objects that tell stories of labor through their worn surfaces—blistered paint, burn marks, and saw cuts. The accordion scaffolds, with their scars and paint splatters, bear witness to the rugged work they supported. The centerpiece of the space is our custom conference table, branded with the mark of "F.J. Mitman" from 1908 Bethlehem, PA—a proud symbol of craftsmanship.
Have you ever considered the beauty in imperfections? Each scratch, dent, and blemish in this space tells a story of hard work and skill. Like the 1940s MK-1 sawhorse, marked with mis-cuts and gouges, but still standing strong—these are the marks of a continual journey. While we often celebrate the successes of design and invention, every creator has a history of failed attempts. We embrace this truth, believing that the mistakes are just as important as the successes. This is the pride embodied by our apostate conference table.
Look closely, and you'll see more stories in the details. Our chandelier fan pull tag, made from a factory worker’s badge from the Textile Machine Works in Reading, PA, tells its own tale—the badge number was hand-punched upside down, then corrected. The 150-year-old farm shutters, weathered but still strong, are a testament to the enduring power of old-world craftsmanship, surviving neglect and outlasting modern construction techniques. Can anything you create stand the test of time like this?
The Library is not just a space for film shoots, headshots, and meetings. It’s a live forum for Brooklyn book clubs, design workshops, and collaborative research projects that go beyond the isolation of the internet. Our collection includes vintage books from publishers who made scientific knowledge accessible to the working class, as well as underground literature on survival, sexuality, and societal critique. We even have 1920s sex education books, which, if shared by a feminist back then, would have been banned under the Comstock laws. Hidden in our shelves are stories of resistance and resilience.
Does this library boast secret compartments? Of course it does. How would you hide the truth during discriminatory times?
For production teams seeking a variety of distinct spaces, our building offers multiple shoot locations all accessible via our freight elevator. Whether you're filming in one area or moving between several, we can accommodate your project’s unique needs. The soundproof windows—made with two layers, including quarter-inch safety glass—are perfect for audio recordings, interviews, and live music. With no other tenants on-site, we even control the industrial freight elevator during your production, ensuring a seamless experience.
