How to Host a New Year’s Eve Party

H

osting a New Year’s Eve party can seem daunting. If you’re inviting the people you care about most to spend their first moments in the new year with you, there’s a lot of pressure to make it perfect. That’s why we’re here to help you pull it off! Start by finding a space you love and the rest will fall into place. Here are 5 tips to consider when hosting the perfect NYE bash:

1. Find a memorable space to celebrate

If you’re hosting New Year’s Eve this year, there’s no doubt you’ve got your hands full. Save your white sofa from red wine and guacamole stains and invite your crew to celebrate with you at one of our party-ready spaces.

2. Keep the bites simple

A well-stocked cheeseboard goals a long way. Be inspired by the flock of stylish appetizer trays making their way through your Insta-feed lately. A wood board (or two) stocked with seasonal fruits, nuts, crackers, and cheeses, will keep guests happy as you work on nailing the rest of your hosting duties.

3. Be thoughtful with your playlist

Think about what tone you want to set for the evening, and then build a playlist to match it. If you’re not sure, consider sharing a playlist of your favorite songs from the past year. Or, if you’re really stumped, there’s always Spotify! Choose from hundreds of playlists like “Top Tracks of 2016”, “Acoustic Party”, and “Wine & Dine”.

4. Make it memorable

Combine a polaroid camera with a fun backdrop and you’ve got yourself a photobooth. Rent a backdrop (like this confetti creation from Patina Rentals), or set one up your own with spare fabric and flowers. Either way you’ll have a fun way for you and your guests to remember the night, even after one too many glasses of champagne.

5. Thank your guests

The first rule of hosting — always send thank you notes. Sites like Paperless Post and Minted offer an amazing selection of ready-made templates for you to print and handwrite or send via email. Personalize your note with a sweet welcome to the new year and photo of you and your guest from the night.
