The Space

Welcome to our beautiful, quiet mountain ranch home, located in the heart of historic gold country! With our private outdoor acreage and charming, country ranch style home, our location is perfect for birthday, retirement, bachelor/ette parties and dinner parties. Very small, intimate weddings could also be accommodated in our backyard area. There is a larger, beautiful meadow by our pond, but there is no electricity to this area, so please take that into consideration before booking. Our unique space is also ideal for filming and photo-shoots. Back of Beyond Ranch is a warm, mountain home on a working ranch, nestled amongst a forest of oak and pine. It was originally designed as a passive solar home and is now powered with solar panels. Once the dwelling place of a very loving, close-knit family, the house has a very warm, cozy ambience with many stories behind every charming facet of the place. The property is 45-55 minutes to Kirkwood ski resort and is also surrounded by world class wineries with visitor discounts available. Our amenities include: 2700 square feet of space in the home 30 acres of oak and pine forest game room with pool table, large screen TV and mini bar high speed WiFi two ponds with fishing and kayaks available Mountain bikes with helmets outdoor hot tub in covered gazebo full size kitchen with basic cooking amenities large, level meadow mountain views quiet and very private location indoor greenhouse dining room Indoor wood fire place Traeger Grill Comfortable living room with television, grand piano and wood fire place covered patio deck garden (seasonal) natural setting with deer, ducks, geese and other wildlife Office area 2.5 bathrooms 6 bedrooms private, gated entrance Extra chair rental is available upon request The energy of the place is calm, mysterious and great for yoga and/or meditation. The hiking, fishing, mountain biking and canoeing are also incredibly relaxing and refreshing. Frequent sightings of deer and other wildlife are enjoyable for nature lovers. During gardening season, there is also an organic vegetable garden available to guests. West Point was at the center of gold country and is quaint and small, very remote yet friendly. The ranch is located off the beaten path, away from the sounds of the city and comfortably far from any neighbors. This area is also home to many world class wineries with visitor discounts available. Our ranch has two lakes stocked with Bass, and we provide fishing rods and tackle for guests to use. Both lakes are also equipped with a canoe, paddles and life jackets for paddling or fishing. Fly fishing and spin casting for trout are great fun and very productive at the three nearby forks and tributaries of the Mokelumne River. Maps of access are available. This area makes for a peaceful, calm and beautiful hidden fishing treasure for those that enjoy the sport and also provides excellent hiking for the adventurous. My family has fished here for over forty years with great success and enjoyment. The ranch land has trails for hiking or mountain biking, and we provide two mountain bikes with helmets for your convenience. Traeger Grillmaster seminars are available by request for groups, couples or individuals. Relax and enjoy the Back of Beyond Ranch. The home is located on a working horse ranch, so there may be people accessing the barn and garden area for feeding, watering and care-taking of the animals and grounds.

Health and SafetyHealth & Safety Policy

The safety and well being of our guests is our top priority. We are committed to the overall well-being of our guests and have taken additional measures to ensure the cleanliness of our space. We have brought in additional cleaning staff to address the Covid cleaning guidelines outlined by the CDC. We sanitize all surfaces before every booking and provide paper towels and cleaning solution for guests. We provide soap and handwashing amenities in the bathrooms and kitchen and suggest that guests wash hands frequently. We also advise that anyone with flu-like symptoms please stay home for the safety of our guests. The house has many windows and screen doors that can be open to provide more ventilation and fresh air. We air the house out in between guests.
