I am a passionate do-it-yourselfer. I have kept bees and farmed tilapia in my backyard. We raise chickens, make soap and candles and make our own sourdough bread, sauerkraut, kimchi and kombucha. I am particularly keen on teaching people the benefits of home grain milling (think coffee grinder for grains) and teach classes in my Silverlake location. Because our classes are weekend focused, this location is ideal for weekday meetings and evening events. Weekends are available, too.

The Space

My space is a DIY learning center where we teach sourdough bread-baking, sauerkraut, kombucha, pasta making, soap making, candle making, canning and preserving, and home milling. We also have a small retail presence so it has the feel of a rustic farm store. Because it is the only place to buy and mill your own flour from locally grown grains, there are dozens of grain jars set up, kind of like a candy store for bakers. There is a full kitchen with fridge, and three ovens for warming or catering, as well as chairs and tables that can be configured how you wish. The entrance is in the back off a small employee parking lot, so loading in is a breeze, though only 2 spots can be used for event parking. There is usually plenty of street parking in the neighborhood.
