The Space

The Gesner Cocoon location offers a spacious private and peaceful setting with spectacular mountain views. Located three miles from the Pacific Ocean. Designed by the world-renowned architect Harry Gesner. The Cocoon compliments and blends in with the site’s natural surroundings and pristine environment. The wood deck is complimented with a large renaissance propane fire caldron. The interior design is architecturally stunning with arched beams and diffused lighting with a small kitchenette, Sitting space, bed, bathroom, and closet. There is a spacious hilltop deck and spa with panoramic views and bench seating. The soaking tub has a retractable wood cover for additional site space. A lower wood campfire space is surrounded by large natural boulders. The event space has natural seating with boulders plus four benches, which can be moved to your liking. The natural beauty of the area and stunning views of the Santa Monica Mountain range makes it very easy to rely on its natural decor. We have solar lights throughout the property and two hanging string lights that can be hung at your request. This property has one bathroom for public use in the solar shop space and also in the Cocoon, but we prefer that be used lightly. For events larger than 30, we ask the guest rent a portapotty that can be used throughout the event. We have WIFIi, indoor and outdoor power outlets and 240 Volt power is available. It is perfect for events as a private escape with the freedom to explore many wide-open spaces. Directions: This 12-acre site is located with-in the Los Angeles 30-Mile Studio Zone. Located on the Mulholland scenic highway in unincorporated Malibu, Los Angeles County. 6 minutes from the Pacific Coast Highway and 18 minutes from Westlake Village. Please get directions directly from us as gps has not updated Mulholland now being open, as it was closed after the fire. As far as parking, we have room on the property to park about 30 cars and although the road to the property is a dirt road, we’ve had no problem with anyone needing four wheel drive. We hope to have you share our very special space nestled in the mountains. It’s really is a magical piece of LA, a real hidden gem. Additional rates apply if we need to accommodate for delivery of rental items, including bathrooms, table/chairs etc. if the items needs to stay over because the rental company does not pick up on weekends, we will be compensated for our time. You will be responsible for trash and bringing it with you unless you opt for us to dispose of it at $150 (3 bags) and after that it will be $25 per extra bag.
