Huge space (over 2,500 square feet) with a massive atrium skylight letting in tons of natural light in the heart of the east village. I bought the house in 1996 and completely renovated it in 2003. It's surrounded by lush community gardens on three sides so it's truly an oasis in the city. The house is spectacular - striking modern, industrial design, and high ceilings and skylight inside; outside a HUGE patio GARDEN that's 720 sq. ft (accessible through the kitchen) with a pergola which is illuminated with fairy lights at night. The living room has a dining room table which seats 8-10 that can also be used as a work space. The kitchen has top of the line appliances and bar seating for 5 as well as banquette seating for an additional 5. There is a BBQ in the garden and an outside table that seats 6 with an extra 8 chairs. Additional table and chairs can be loaned. There is also a brand new FIRE PIT table! The house has many different areas so perfect for breaking out in teams/groups. House has Wifi, central air and a fireplace as well as speakers throughout including in the backyard. You can play music through your phone using the Bluetooth. There are 5 bedrooms and 3 additional bathrooms that can be rented out for an extra fee. Local street parking is usually easy to find. The space is perfect for off-site work related events such as brainstorming groups or meetings, as well as baby showers, bridal showers, cocktail parties, pop up dinners or wine tastings and photo and film shoots. Set-up and break-down need to be included in your booking time. When booking please make sure you allow yourself enough time to get the space ready for your event + time to break down and leave the house in good shape. Early arrivals will be accommodated within a 15 minute window without an additional charge. Late departures will be charged after a 15 minute grace period from the official booking stop. THIS SPACE IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR LOUD, ROWDY PARTIES OR LOTS OF DANCING. Note: I'm currently not allowing guests to bring their own sound system/DJ; however the sound system for the house is excellent and it syncs so you can hear the music in the garden as well.

History: —Our Mansion/Museum was built in the mid-1800's. A dazzling Ballroom was added to the Mansion's Second Floor in 1899—designed by the world-renowned architect Stanford White. Stanford White was the genius whose work gave birth to New York's Beaux-Arts Movement. Some of what you & your guests will enjoy: The First Floor of our Mansion/Museum includes: —A Stunning 1800's Parlor, 25'x 14'. Please enjoy our cabinets, whose displays embrace what the centuries have bequeathed to us all. —Our Glass Gallery, 20' x 15', is luminous with its Permanent Exhibition of American glass and ceramics. —A Restroom that's not an antique. CAPACITY: For Events at which guests are expected to come and go, we allow a guest list of up to 150. For those Events with guests who are expected to stay for the entire time, we allow for a guest list of up to 100. For seated dinners, we can comfortably accommodate 40 guests. ART & DECOR: On our walls there is a Permanent Exhibition of the beloved Al Hirschfeld's legendary art. In our experience, Hirschfeld's art provides a terrific conversation-starter among your guests. In the Ballroom, a grand piano awaits you. And should you like, we can suggest a perfect cabaret pianist to play for you. And sing. The Ballroom is lighted by a one-of-a-kind 'Phantom of the Opera' Chandelier covered with antique Swedish glass globes. We designed the Chandelier ourselves in 1985, so we really do mean it is one-of-a-kind! There is other lighting, including a 12-foot skylight that bathes the Ballroom in an ever-changing Aurora-borealis-like light. Looking up through our skylight, you will see a tree as gigantic as it is gorgeous—and it's been thriving here since the Indians owned Manhattan Island! Looking out through our opulent arched window (it's made of zinc-glass, which pre-dates "leaded" glass), you'll have a panoramic view of the flourishing gardens and trees of this historic Greenwich Village neighborhood. And if you're lucky enough to be here when it's snowing, you will feel like you're inside a snow globe—but you'll be nice and warm! Sometimes people ask if we can move our furniture, our art, or our antiques to accommodate their Event. In most cases, our answer is Yes. The amount of time it takes for this accommodation, and then the time it takes to return everything after your Event, will be figured at our hourly Event rate and billed automatically by Splacer as Overtime Charges. GETTING HERE: —Our Mansion/Museum is located in one of the safest and most accessible locations in all of New York City. We are easy to find for your out-of-town guests: —For those arriving by car, there is indoor parking directly across the street. —For those traveling by Subway, we are an easy walk from all the major train lines. Featuring artistic decor and curious details, this unique space can host small groups and gatherings. Its intimate atmosphere is perfect for salons, classes, meet ups, sessions, and small shoots. Past events have included: script readings, rehearsals, burlesque classes, group and individual counseling sessions, artist salons, client meetings, bridal showers, birthday parties, card dice and role-playing games, photo and video shoots. The studio features one large, completely private room. It is fully furnished, decorated and ready to receive guests. The studio has hosted social gatherings of up to 15 people. For seated events, folding chairs can be added for about 12 people. Includes: wifi elevator access work table fridge studio speakers tea and filtered water unique design, decor and furnishings Lighting can be changed from bright working light to a subdued glow for intimate meetings. Very conveniently located. Close to almost every subway. The A, C, E, N, R, Q, J, Z, 1 and 6 trains are all within 3 blocks. Studio dimensions are roughly 14' x 20'. Please Note: This studio has NO windows! ...But the photo shows a huge windowed balcony?! I know. It's a giant light box built into the wall. It looks and feels like sunlight streaming through the doors when its on, but it's an illusion. Regardless of the actual time of day, you can control the light, easily changing the look from bright daylight to a subdued evening glow. The operating hours of this studio are firmly 7am-10pm. We do not currently accept bookings outside of this time frame.
