Designed to provide a multi-functional area, this studio is a spacious 1,900 sq. ft rectangular shaped room with an abundance of natural light shining in from the east through our windows. The clean white walls, 9' ceiling and gorgeous pillars make our studio an ideal space for any type of photo shoots and filming. Our space offers classic smooth white walls as well as a white bricked wall for urban style concepts. The entire area is on the 4th floor of the building, which is located only a few blocks from the California Mart and the Santee Alley. There are restrooms, refrigerator and always a staff who will do the best to accommodate our clients' requests during their hours of stay. To make sure the entire place functions as shooting space, we've incorporated mobility to our vanity and wardrobe stations. We're also able to black out the entire studio if your project requires a place that is completely free of light outside. We have a freight elevator for those who bring lots of stuff! Which can be accessible from the alleyway behind our building. There are tons of meter parking surrounding the building as well as parking lots within a block's range for flat rates. Depending on the hours of your booking, we will guide you to the best parking lot option. We are super pet friendly, as long as you clean up after them! The history is ripe with the lore, tradition and curiosity that makes its home in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles a place of intrigue and wonder and a place we have always cherished. The 9,000 sq. ft home was originally built in 1926 as a Prop Design Studio for film and television, the Spanish Colonial style building has an heir of both elegance and comfort daftly mimicking its current owner’s temperament and style. Following that storied use of the building and for the next twenty-five years, the building was a violin factory producing thousands of violins and violas for schools throughout the country. In 1967, some fifty years ago, Costume Designer Rita Riggs purchased the building and made it her studio for her work with everyone from Alfred Hitchcock to Norman Lear and many, many more in between. Rita predated the current interest in Shared Community Office space by offering space to a select group of design professionals that understood her passion and talent for high design and an interest in making a true community out of the workplace. Organically, gracefully and with no pretense, Rita was way, way, way, ahead of her time. Recently, the building was painstakingly restored to its former glory by Architects who are 30 year inhabitants of the this very special building. It's now used as a landmark for events, dinners, workshops, film screenings, yoga, coworking, various types of productions and everything in between.

The studio area has vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, 2 skylights, bamboo floors, 3 glass sliding doors and lots of natural light. The studio also has a wood deck that wraps around 2 sides of the structure, overlooking the creek. Below the studio treehouse, there is an open-air space with concrete floors that works great for staging and other various production needs. This area has optional canvas curtains for more privacy and can also be utilized for filming if it fits your location needs. This treehouse studio is situated in the center of our grounds offering easy access to all other areas around the property! Surrounding the treehouse there is a large yard that can be used and shot in various ways. Set builds are okay in this outdoor space with prior discussion and approval. The other exterior areas of the property are easily walkable and include a natural wood bridge that overlooks the natural creek-bed, which winds through the heart of the property. With several access points, this creek-bed creates our own private hiking trail encompassed with enchanting oaks, sycamores, and eucalyptus trees. There are also several vantages points to shoot the creek from high angles. Additional interior areas may be available upon request and on a case by case basis. A generator is available onsite for excess power capabilities. The on-site manager will also be available during shoots.
